US Military Cycling Program Overview

The US Military Cycling Team is a privately funded 501c3 non-profit organization created to support recreational and competitive bicycling activities for members of the United States Armed Forces.

As Department of Defense (DoD) funding for sports activities is limited to specific events, many military athletes who are nationally and internationally competitive do not receive support through official channels.  To help give these amazing soldier-athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest levels, the US Military Cycling program and its parent organization, American Servicemembers Amateur Sports Inc. (ASAS), were formed as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  The program receives no financial assistance from  DoD and aids athletes solely through the generous support of sponsors and donors.

Each of the soldier-athletes in our Elite and Development programs is an Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserve component member pursuing their passion for competitive cycling alongside their professional military careers.  These athletes train year-round to compete at the highest levels of the sport in the United States.  By showcasing the talents of our riders, we raise awareness of the sport of cycling within the military community.  Whether a cyclist is a competitive racer, a recreational rider, a wounded soldier looking for ways to maintain an active and mobile lifestyle, or a cycling fan with connections to our military heritage, our elite racing program is one that our military family can be proud of.

Our athletes and activities would never reach their full potential without our amazing partnership team. For 2012, the Team will be fueled by FRS Healthy Energy as title sponsor.  American Classic will provide the team’s wheels for the third straight year. Challenge Tires will continue to keep the team rolling smoothly, Van Dessel will supply the Elite Team’s training and race bikes and SRAM/ZIPP/QuarQ will provide their world-class component groups. New for 2012, we welcome Primal as the Team’s apparel provider and are happy to announce a broader relationship with Chamois Butt’r.
